Animated Birthday Happy Song
Whether or not you’ve ever heard his name, you probably know a song or two by this man. Born March 22, 1930, lyricist and composer Stephen Sondheim is one of the biggest names in Broadway shows.
Sweeney Todd
In 1979, the musical Sweeney Todd came to Broadway. Starring Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury, this show tells the story of the vengeful and murderous “Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” The musical has been staged in New York as well as London’s West End.
British director John Doyle staged the most recent Broadway revival of the play in 2005. This production starred Michael Cerveris (Assassins) and Patti Lupone (Evita) in the lead roles.
